Halsey Stars in "Riverdale" Sketch on "Saturday Night Live"

Introducing: Halsey as Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper.

Halsey has officially joined the ranks of stars who have pulled off the prestigious Saturday Night Live double duty. The singer-songwriter made her hosting debut on February 9, 2019, where she also took the stage as the show’s musical guest. In addition to donning a breathtaking black lace dress with a corset bodice, starring in plenty of timely political sketches, and painting a literal portrait while singing (we’ll get to that in a bit), Halsey took on one of television’s most iconic characters at the moment: Betty Cooper on Riverdale.

In an undoubtedly hilarious sketch, Halsey stepped into Lili Reinhart’s shoes (and cardigan) in a spoof of the CW series. The three-minute scene took place in a morgue, as Halsey/Lili/Betty was visiting her dead cousin (portrayed by Pete Davidson). At her side, of course, was Jughead Jones, played on the real Riverdale by Cole Sprouse, but portrayed on SNL by Beck Bennet. (Don't worry — Archie made an appearance as well.)

The sketch will definitely make any Riverdale fan LOL, with “Lili” delivering breathy lines such as “I was an A1 river vixen, but now it feels like nothing matters,” and “Cole” seeming pretty impressed by Pete Davidson’s commitment to portraying a realistic corpse. And while the actual Lili and Cole haven’t commented on the sketch yet, we have a feeling they’d probably get a good kick out of it as well.

In addition to showing off her comedic acting chops, Halsey performed “Without Me” and “Eastside,” the latter of which she sang while painting an elaborate portrait on the floor. Needless to say, plenty of people were impressed with the singer-songwriter’s ability to multi-task, with some suggesting that she deserves her own paint-while-singing show (seconded). Pretty sure that Halsey slayed her roles as both host and musical guest — and we can’t wait to see her inevitably return to the SNL stage once again.
