Halsey References Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and More Pop Stars in Her “You Should Be Sad” Video

From boots that doubled as pants to eyebrows made of feathers, Halsey has certainly perfected the art of personal style. However, for her latest music video, the singer has turned to some of music's biggest names for beauty and fashion inspo.

On Friday, January 10, Halsey released the video for "You should be sad," a single from her upcoming new album Manic, out on January 17. The clip initially begins with Halsey sporting short shorts, a sequined bra, and a cowboy hat, but as the video continues, she rocks a number of additional outfits, each was inspired by another pop star.

Eagle-eyed Twitter users spotted the fashionable references — noting Christina Aguilera, Shania Twain, and Lady Gaga are among the fit homages. Halsey then also confirmed that she was inspired by the singers, writing, "Xtina, Gaga, Carrie, and of course Shania, this was one loaded with nods to bad*ss idols of mine. Had the vision to do a 'before he cheats' but instead about after he does haha."

Along with Halsey's interpretation of the music video outfits, fans pointed to replicated dance moves, noting that at one point, she perfectly nailed Christina's "Dirty" squat. One person even suggested Halsey's next move, urging her to work with the artists she admires. "Collab with carrie and make a banger about murdering an unfaithful man next," someone wrote.

Prior to the release of "You should be sad," Halsey had premiered another music video with some stylish-inspo. Back in October, she released "Graveyard," a visual that had her starring alongside Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney. In the video, both girls were stylized in looks inspired by the hit HBO series, and while glitter wasn't a prominent ingredient in the clip, fluffy dresses and soft hairstyles were.
