Halsey Posts Armpit Hair Selfie on Twitter
Halsey's most recent selfies are going viral, but not because her hair looks on point or because she's sharing a cute moment with G-Eazy. This time around, the internet is teeming over responses to her visible armpit hair.
The singer had the best possible response to internet trolls, addressing the issue head-on, without going into any long-winded rant about she should and should not be able to do. After all, she shouldn't have to.
As Revelist reports, Halsey captioned her now-viral tweet writing, “Sounds Like Friday Night,” along with two side-by-side images: one showing off her smize, while the other she's smiling from ear to ear. In the first photo, there's a barely perceptible amount of armpit hair at the edge of the frame, to which several online trolls quickly took offense. (Seriously, this again?)
It didn't take very long before users chimed in with rude comments like, “Look at her armpits,” and citing pseudoscience factoids like, “The odor from sweat is caused by bacteria […] In other words, it’s about hygiene.” Others took the opportunity to support the "Bad at Love" singer — one user wrote, “Newsflash. Girls have hair,” while another shared, “Okay but men don’t have a say in what women do with their bodies. We don’t care what y’all prefer.”
One specific image, with an “LOL” sticker over her underarm, has been making the rounds online, with the creator asking, “what the hell is this ?!!!” in reference to the singer's visible body hair. However, Halsey had the best response, bluntly answering, “It’s an armpit you’ve put a sticker over. Not sure what else there is here to explain?”
Female celebrities like Scout Willis, Kiersey Clemons, and Willow Smith have publicly taken a stance on body hair and have used social media to proverbially shout from the rooftops that shaving body hair, regardless of gender, is entirely optional. TL;DR? A woman’s choice to shave (or not) is her own, and no one else’s.
