  • In a new interview, Halsey talks about the experience of suffering a miscarriage.

  • She says it made her feel “inadequate.”

Halsey released her new album Manic last month, and one of the new songs, “More,” is all about how she wants to have a child.

While promoting her new album, Halsey talked about how she was nervous about releasing the song after sharing publicly that she had suffered a miscarriage and was met with online abuse. According to Elle UK, in now-deleted tweets from last year, Halsey wrote:

“I have endometriosis. I’ve had 3 miscarriages, 4 surgeries, pretty much in pain every day of my life and I’ve donated/raised upward of $300,000 in the name of research and support. I’m not trying to be quirky. Or different. I’m just trying to normalize an under-discussed illness.”

And even though she took the tweet down at the time, it looks like Halsey is now ready to talk about the experience again. Earlier this week, she opened up to The Guardian about suffering a miscarriage, saying, “It’s the most inadequate I’ve ever felt. Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can’t do the one thing I’m biologically put on this earth to do. Then I have to go onstage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralizing.” She also added that even with the endometriosis, it’s “looking like [motherhood is] something that’s gonna happen for me. That’s a miracle.”

Really, it’s horrible that trolls would attack Halsey after she vulnerably shared her painful experiences. Kudos to Halsey for speaking up again, and sending ❤️.
