What Halloween candy does Delaware love best? It's on a map

'Tis the season for pumpkins and spookiness, but more importantly, candy.

Halloween candy spending is projected to hit $3.6 billion this year, according to the National Retail Federation.

Skittles, M&M's, Mounds and more: Everyone has their favorite sweet treat to pick from this Halloween. So, of course, a company made data on the top candy in all 50 states, and even placed it on a map.

Data from CandyStore.com gave sale insights into candy sales from the past 16 years, showcasing each state's most and least favorite treats.

What's Delaware's favorite Halloween candy?

The top pick for the First State was Sour Patch Kids, the sour gummy coming in with 20,704 pounds sold. The candy also ranked No. 5 in the most popular Halloween candy nationwide, just behind Skittles at No. 4.

Speaking of Skittles, the candy landed the No. 2 spot for Delaware, at 17,124 pounds sold, with Life Savers taking No. 3 place at 11,608 pounds.

East Coast residents seem to favor the sour treat, with Sour Patch Kids also taking No. 1 in New York and Maine. Even folks down south chose the candy as No. 1 in states like Texas.

What Halloween candy does the U.S. like best?

The top treat nationwide was Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, with M&M's and Hot Tamales taking second and third.

Neighboring state New Jersey chose Tootsie Pops as their favorite, with Pennsylvania falling on Hershey's Mini Bars (which just makes sense).

So, if you want to make neighborhood kids happiest this year while handing out candy, Sour Patch Kids should be in your basket.
