This Hallmark holiday movie spoof is hilarious—and so spot-on

Holiday movies bring nostalgia and ALL of the feels. You can times all of that by 10 when it’s a Hallmark movie. You already know how it’s going to end and yet they are so irresistible, just like a good romance book IMO.

A viral video is going around on Instagram featuring a Hallmark movie spoof storyline and it is wildly accurate. Paige Harbison is a writer and even has a podcast about Hallmark movies, so you know she knows all about them.

Her recent video captures all the things you love about the signature romance storyline but it’s her acting and dialogue that take the cake.

Just like any good Hallmark movie, this one starts out in a bakery. “Oh hi, Luke my boyfriend of like three months. What are you doing here at the bakery that I run?”

“Meet your family?” she continues. “They live in a small European country I’ve never heard of.”

Now, you might be thinking—how can she jet off to a small European country (she’s never heard of) when she has a bakery to run? But it’s a Hallmark movie spoof! So, of course she says she’ll leave her business in the hands of some “nameless” employee to figure out all by themself. What a joy for said employee.

Off she goes to another country and she is in for a big surprise. “The family get-together that we’re here for is your coronation?” Harbison says. Oh, and did I mention that the family house is a castle, because it is. What Hallmark romance movie would be complete without an undercover royal and his castle that he just forgot to mention exists?

But, the real star of the show is his name. See, if you thought that his real name was the traditional “Luke” then, you’d be wrong. Harbison doesn’t break character when she says, “Your full name is Lucious Maximilian Von Baking Spice?!” It’s absolutely bonkers but, oh, so amazing.

The story continues and features “Mrs. Queen,” a coronation meltdown, a housekeeper who tells her to just “be yourself” and a scene where she rips a diamond necklace from her neck.

It’s all very dramatic and hilarious. Harbison is so committed to the role that she even features different outfits for each scene.

It sums up what you love most about Hallmark movies—the over-the-top romance, the drama and even the cheesy lines. It’s no wonder the internet can’t get enough of this video. The comments are teeming with love for Harbison’s Hallmark movie spoof.

“Hahaha. Super clever and funny. Well done!”

“But wait you try to leave bc it just won’t work and he tracks you down in the snow on his purebred horse!!!”

“Where is the lie!!!!????”
