When the weather outside is frightful, nothing is more delightful than a Hallmark Christmas movie. They’re filled with gorgeous décor, and family-friendly storylines, and they just make you feel nice inside.

The network has tons of original debuts every year. But there’s one particular franchise that fans continue to love—and Blake Shelton is to thank for it! Well, Blake and his mom, Dorothy. Sit back and relax, because we’re about to tell you the true story behind Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas.

It all started back in 2012, when Blake asked his mom for guidance with "Time for Me to Come Home," a little tune he was creating for Cheers, It's Christmas.

“Blake was writing the song for his Christmas album and said he needed help with the second verse,” Dorothy told Country Living. “So I came up with the second verse and that’s how the song was born.”

A year later, Dorothy, along with Travis Thrasher, released a novel by the same name, which was inspired by the sweet tune and real holiday memories with her son. Obviously the story should be considered one of the best Christmas books of all time, because from there it was turned into the cheery TV movie, Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas.

That success led to the sequel, Time for You to Come Home for Christmas, and now a third is on its way. In fact, Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas premieres December 5 at 10 p.m. EST on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries!

This one stars Lacey Chabert and Stephen Huszar, and follows five guests who are mysteriously invited to an inn for Christmas. Together, they must find their common connection—which could change their lives forever. Intrigue!

Blake and Dorothy have been executive producers on every movie, which sounds like such a fun mother-son activity. Can't wait to see what Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas holds!
