Hallmark Channel Still Hasn't Renewed 'When Calls the Heart' for Season 9

• Even though we're at the season 8 midseason mark, there still hasn't been any mention of a season 9 renewal.

• The current season has set ratings records: For starters, the season 8 premiere was the most-watched original scripted series on cable.

• Now, the show's creator Brian Bird is asking Hearties to do their part to help the show get a season 9 pickup.

There are still six episodes left in season 8, but When Calls the Heart fans already have season 9 on the brain.

As Brian Bird, the show's creator promised, season 8 started with a "boom." In true Hope Valley fashion, every episode has pulled at fans heartstrings, from the moment Nathan professed his love to Elizabeth to the time that a fiery oil explosion put the whole town on edge. While Hearties know that Elizabeth's big decision is coming in the next few weeks, many are eager to watch her new love story play out — and given the current timeline, it probably won't happen until season 9. Therein lies the problem: When Calls the Heart still hasn't been picked up for another season.

In year's past, Hallmark Channel has announced the show's renewal fairly early on in the season. Last year, however, they waited until the last possible second: Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth on the show, broke the good news right after the season 8 finale aired. So, there's a chance that they're planning on doing the same this year.

Hearties, of course, will do whatever it takes in the time-being to let Hallmark Channel know that they want (okay, need) more time in Hope Valley. That's why the show's creator is relying on them to plead for more episodes, using #Season9WouldBeDivine on Twitter.

In reality, it seems like our time in Hope Valley is far from over, especially given the show's recent ratings wins. Keeping that in mind, some fans have already started sharing their wishlist for the impending season, all reliant on which suitor Elizabeth picks in the coming weeks.

One fan is hopeful that if Elizabeth chooses Nathan, season 9 will bring bonding moments between Jack Jr. and Allie.

Another fan is also thinking ahead to Elizabeth and Nathan's wedding. (Sorry #TeamLucas fans, some Hearties think she's already made up her mind.)

More than anything, fans are thrilled that Nathan and Lucas will remain central to Hope Valley, regardless of Elizabeth's final decision.

The cast is also excited about all the possibilities that a new season brings. In a recent interview with Sarah Scoop, Erin said that there's "lot's more to come if we get a season 9." Just like Hearties everywhere, she's excited to explore life beyond the love triangle in future seasons. "We've been exploring this love triangle for several seasons now and we're finally getting a decision in season 8, which is great. I think what that means is that in season 9, it would be really love to get to explore what that dynamic is like between Elizabeth and fill in the blank without the complication of the other man."
