Carlos PenaVega and Adelaide Kane star in the new A Midnight Kiss, premiering Saturday, December 29 (8 p.m. ET) on the Hallmark Channel. Part of the network's "Countdown to Christmas," the romantic story is sure to become one of your favorite New Year's movies-and the beautiful scenery only adds to its allure.

Like other Hallmark Christmas movies including Welcome to Christmas and Christmas in Evergreen, A Midnight Kiss was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Carlos told Extra that the Canadian city was quite rainy when they filmed. Promotional images show the stars sharing a kiss atop a building-with fireworks bursting in the background. Though the exact setting is unclear, the area boasts seriously scenic views including the Vancouver Lookout, which is essentially Vancouver's version of Seattle's Space Needle.

Hallmark tells us that filming locations also included White Rock and Lions Bay, British Columbia.

Carlos posted several behind-the-scenes snapshots on set, both of his co-star, Adelaide (of The CW's Reign), and of his son, Ocean, who he shares with wife Alexa PenaVega.

"We're ready for the cold," the Maui-based actor captioned the cute picture.

As you could probably infer from the title, A Midnight Kiss takes place on New Year's Eve. Event planner Mia Pearson (Adelaide) has to hustle to pull together a party for an important new client, Kate Clark (Pauline Egan)-a task made even more difficult when her business partner and brother, Jake (Jason Cermak), is injured.

Thankfully, Jake's filmmaker friend from college, David Campos (Carlos), is in town and able to step in, and sparks fly.

You might recognize Carlos from his work in 2016's Love at Sea and 2017's Enchanted Christmas-both times opposite his real-life love interest Alexa.

Though they normally team up on-screen, this year the PenaVegas starred in separate Hallmark Christmas movies. Alexa's Christmas Made to Order aired last week, and now it's her husband's turn.

"My movie's called A Midnight Kiss, so there has to be a kiss at some point," Carlos explained in the Extra interview, adding that he actually sent the clip of the romantic ending scene (complete with fireworks!) to his wife.

"Everyone was like, 'You're sending that to your wife?' I'm like, 'Yeah!' … It's a movie!" he said.

It turns out, Alexa was jealous-not of the peck but rather the pyrotechnics. "I was like, 'What was your budget? You had fireworks? Why didn't we get fireworks?'" she said, laughing.

"Obviously you don't want to be working with anybody that's going to make your spouse or yourself uncomfortable," Alexa added. "However it is also a job and Hallmark is also very, very safe. So you feel very comfortable and you're not worried."
