The Bailey sisters celebrated women Thursday night, in two head-turning ensembles at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards.

Halle and Chloe Bailey wowed on the red carpet in their cool coordinating looks at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Halle looked incredible in a two-tone pink halterneck gown with a cinched waist, a torso cutout, and a breezy floor-length skirt. She wore the custom Dolce & Gabbana dress with light pink crystal earrings, a gold manicure, and a glossy lip.

Chloe’s all-white look had a street style edge. Pulled straight from Christopher John Rogers’s Resort 2024 runway, it included a cropped mock-neck top with a daring chest cutout that mirrored her sister’s, and a long back train. She paired the sleeveless statement piece with crisp low-rise cargo pants—à la Y2K—plus large gold hoop earrings and matching bangles and rings. The singer kept her makeup look natural and glowy, and wore a hazy white manicure.

The talented sister duo posed sweetly on the red carpet together, embracing and laughing.

The Little Mermaid star was one of four honorees at the event, which celebrated the achievements of young black women in the film and television industry. The others were The Color Purple’s Danielle Brooks, TV producer Kathryn Busby, and writer and producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll.

During her acceptance speech, Halle reflected on her career and the recent birth of her son, Halo, whom she welcomed last year with boyfriend DDG.

“We are Black women in entertainment, and although we signed up for the challenges of the spotlight, in this current climate, that spotlight burns brighter, hotter, and uninterrupted, whereas the scrutiny of its magnification leaves no concealment,” she began.

“I’ve learned from that spotlight over the past eight years. I’ve also, if I’m being honest, been burned by it, too, as we all have,” Halle added, referencing the racist backlash she faced when it was announced she had been cast as Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid live-action remake, released last year.

The role changed her life, she said, but, “it cannot compare to the biggest joy of my life, And that was becoming a mom to my perfect little angel Halo.”
