Halle Berry's legendary Oscar dress has found a new home at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

The Elie Saab gown that the Academy Award winner wore to the 2002 ceremony is now on display at the Los Angeles museum. The Monster's Ball star wore the semi-sheer ensemble, which features a mesh bodice covered with floral appliqués, and a deep red, asymmetrical taffeta skirt, on the night she took home the golden statuette for Best Actress, becoming the first Black actress to win an award in that category.

Berry shared the news on Instagram this week, posting a photo of the gown in its new display as well as pics of herself posing on the red carpet over twenty years ago.

"Not only will this historic @eliesaabworld gown remain in the expert care of the museum's curators and conservators, but it will also be accessible to generations of people for whom the dress also holds meaning and forever be a reminder that all things are possible. Thank you @academymuseum!" she wrote.

On the night of her historic win, Berry thanked the trailblazing Black women in film who came before her during her emotional acceptance speech.

"This moment is so much bigger than me. This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. It's for the women that stand beside me, Jada Pinkett, Angela Bassett, Vivica Fox. And it's for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight now has been opened."

The 2023 Oscars will take place this Sunday, March 12. Learn who's attending and how you can watch here.
