Halle Berry Teams up With Drew and Jonathan Scott on a Really Emotional Home Makeover

Looking for a mid-week pick-me-up? Enter: This feel-good home makeover! Hollywood icon Halle Berry teamed up with your favorite brother-designer duo, Property Brothers' Drew and Jonathan Scott, to give Halle's fifth grade teacher a seriously stunning home remodel in the latest episode of HGTV's Celebrity IOU.

For over 40 years, Yvonne Sims has been a mentor figure to Halle, who describes Yvonne as a second mother. "Yvonne is just a ray of light and anybody who meets her is affected by her,” says Berry. “I’ve watched her pour not only all of herself into me but she’s poured into other students, her community, her own two beautiful daughters and her husband. There are some people in this world who are just here to give to others and she’s one of those people.”

So, to give back to the woman who has deeply impacted so many, Berry added 'designer' to her resume and, with a little help from Jonathan and Drew, set out to completely transform Yvonne’s 1920s Cleveland, Ohio, home. The challenge? Preserve the vintage charm while improving function and elevating style.

It's safe to say that Halle Berry is officially a reno queen after, you know, casually smashing countertops and ripping through walls to create the perfect open-flow floor plan for her friend's new home (Get you a friend like Halle!).

Halle, Jonathan, and Drew included modern yet cozy finishes in the final project, surprising Yvonne with a stunning and polished overhaul to her kitchen, dining room and sitting room. Our favorite feature, though, is the custom storage, which was thoughtfully designed for Yvonne to file away handwritten notes from her students. (I'm not crying, you are.)
