Halle Berry shared a clip from the James Bond film Die Another Day in honor of its 20th anniversary.
Fans loved revisiting the iconic bikini scene.
“Pierce Brosnan forever my BOND!” she captioned the post.
The James Bond film franchise has been around for over half a century, so it’s difficult to keep up with the rolling count of movie anniversaries. But Halle Berry recently brought her followers’ attention to a pretty important one. The actress, 56, shared her iconic bikini scene from Die Another Day on Twitter in celebration of the film’s 20th year.
“It’s been 20 years. Pierce Brosnan forever my BOND!” she captioned the post.
In the clip, Berry, wearing an orange two-piece, emerges from the ocean in slow motion, her hands running through her short hair. She later introduces herself to Brosnan’s Bond as NSA agent Jinx Johnson, who ultimately assists Bond’s mission to investigate a North Korean terrorist’s relationship with a British diamond mogul.
“Jinx, you say?” Bond asks in the clip. “Born on Friday the 13th,” Johnson replies. “Let’s just say, my relationships don’t seem to last.”
That line unintentionally foreshadowed the character’s future. Berry and the movie’s producers hoped to continue Jinx’s legacy in a heroic spinoff, but the story was ultimately scrapped. “It was very disappointing,” Berry recalled to Variety in 2020. “It was ahead of its time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren’t sure of its value. That’s where we were then.”
Nonetheless, fans appreciated Berry’s blast from the past. “Excellent stuff. You two were great together,” one person replied. “Jinx is my favorite character! You are my favorite Bond girl!” another added. “The most bada*s NSA agent there ever was,” another wrote.
In a follow-up tweet, Berry gave fans some behind-the-scenes commentary, sharing an image from the scene. “The biggest acting challenge I had during this scene was to make it look like the water was warm … when I was actually freezing my butt off,” she wrote. “Happy 20 years to Die Another Day.”
It’s hard to believe 20 years have gone by that fast. Time flies when you have a career as busy and impressive as Berry’s!
