When we think of Halle Bailey’s best nail looks, her Little Mermaid era comes to mind. The press tour for the film brought us a plethora of aquatic-inspired manicures that were just as fun as they were fashionable. Water drop nails, seashell nails, underwater chrome, and a pearlescent manicure were all in the picture. However, now that she's is no longer under the sea, Bailey seems to be channeling the sun and the stars with her latest manicure.

On October 15, the multihyphenate posted an Instagram carousel basking in the sunset’s light while cozying up in a leopard print robe. The photo also gave us a peek at her latest nails, which were just as soft as the golden hour light and her luxurious robe, hence why we're calling them golden hour velvet nails.

The nails were long and a tapered squoval shape. Tinted but semi-sheer, you could see right through the tips but not the beds. The beds were coated in a warm pinkish brown with golden glitter spread across the entire nail. Because the polish allowed the sheer tip of her extension to show through, the effect was a subtle "invisible French" moment that made the mani extra special.

Bailey’s makeup also fit the occasion. As glowy as her nails, the singer’s skin was luminous perfection, with a rosy shade on her cheeks and bright under eyes. Her lips were lined with a slightly darker brown shade, and were coated in a pink-toned gloss. The eyes tied the whole golden hour theme together even more.

Underneath fluttery, wispy lashes was a shimmering eyeshadow that matched the shimmer of her nails. Her inner corner had bright gold glitter that continued to the middle of her eyelid before it began to fade out into a chocolate shade. The color continued under her lower lashline with a little bit of black liner on the top.

To get the exact same manicure as Halle, it's probably best to make a trip to the nail salon, as velvet nails require special magnetic polish which can be tricky to use—and often is pro-only. However, there are a few at-home options for all those willing and able to give it a try.

First, like any manicure, remove any lingering polish with nail polish remover. Then, apply oil to your cuticles to soften, and push them back. After that, cut and file your nails to the desired length. Once shaped, buff the surface for an even nail bed and apply your favorite base coat

The most important thing here is to get a magnetic polish, which will give you that shimmering velvet look. For a similar shade to Bailey's, you can try Mooncat’s Neptune Sand magnetic polish ($16) or any similar shade with a magnetic effect. After applying two coats, grab a magnet and hover it above each nail before they fully dry. When you do this, the glitter particles will rise to the surface and give the velvet effect you’re looking for.

Once done, add your favorite top coat and a dollop of nail oil, and you will be a walking sunset.
