Half Fast Subs has closed its doors after just more than a year in Fort Collins.

The Boulder-born sandwich shop, which opened a location at 649 S. College Ave. last August, closed Oct. 8, with owner Fred Liskowski telling the Coloradoan the shop couldn't generate enough business to make the new location sustainable.

"We had a lot of loyal customers, however, we couldn’t seem to grow beyond that base," Liskowski said in an email Thursday. "We really wanted to keep it open to serve our loyal customers, but financially it wasn’t possible."

The shop's expansion into Fort Collins marked its first move outside Boulder, where it opened on the city's University Hill in 1996. Over the decades, it became known for its vast menu that boasted more than 100 sub options.

The sandwich shop's flagship Boulder location remains open.
