Fashion entrepreneur and influencer Alyssa Coscarelli and SKN by LH founder Lori Harvey were spotted wearing the look during Paris fashion week last month. The look was also seen on Lizzo at the 2023 Grammy Awards, created by stylist Shelbeniece Swain. And during fall 2023 New York Fashion Week, House of Aama presented a braided twist on hair spirals.

Celebrity stylist Lacy Redway notes that the buzzy look is influenced from vintage hair styles with a more modern flair. During Creed III's press tour, she worked closely with actress Tessa Thompson to craft a series of signature spiral looks, each adapted from French surrealistic artist, Claude Cahun.

"Tessa and I have a very collaborative process. We've been working with each other for a long time now and always enjoy creating together," the stylist tells BAZAAR.com. "There was quite a buildup leading up to the Creed III LA premiere hair style. The original idea was birthed from a portrait of the French surrealistic artist Claude Cahun that Tessa shared with me. I took my twist on the inspiration and came up with some unique ways to showcase a variety of shapes throughout the press tour."

Redway adds that for the film's Los Angeles premiere, she and Thompson opted for a more subtle take on the spiral accent with a single curled baby hair in an effort to continue their hair story without overpowering the star's striking gold dress.

"Tessa and I have been telling a beautiful hair story throughout the Creed III press tour, and I’ve been excited to see similar styles popping up at the SAG Awards and Paris Fashion Week, helping to create the looks as a trend. They're a beautiful way to add a unique flair to a more traditional hairstyle."

For those looking to try their own version of the spiral hair accent, Redway explains that the products you use ultimately depend on the finish you want for the hair style. "If you want a softer appearance, don’t use gel," she advises. "Instead, use Tresemmé One Step Blowout Cream or its One Step 5-in-1 Smoothing Cream, and blow-dry it into your hair. Next, select a small section and smooth it with a hot tool of your choice (like a flat iron), and use the Nexxus Comb Through Finishing Mist Hairspray to shape your desired piece of hair onto your forehead." And if you prefer that a little of your texture shows through, Redway notes not to blow-dry hair, but use Tresemmé's Extra Hold Gel on a small section of hair instead, and shape it into place.
