Hair Sheets Might Be the Answer to Your Bad Hair Days

Sheet masks have proven themselves to be a non-negotiable way to step up your skincare game in a serious way thanks to their targeted treatments. Recently though, a brand new type of film-based solution has emerged — for your hair.

I’m obsessed with this trend and think it’s just the beginning, since brands like IGK and Briogeo have launched their own versions. Convenience is key (being able to toss a wipe in my purse is a lifesaver) and the fact that these mini-but-mighty products tackle basic hair concerns like oily roots, frizzy strands, and brittle locks is a major plus. The design is smart and thoughtful, but they’re also versatile. People with all hair types — from straight to coily to colored — can reap the benefits of whipping out one of these wipes. As someone who avoids lathering up frequently and has been traveling for the holidays, these palm-sized products couldn’t have come at a better time.

I tested out the IGK SWIPE UP Black Charcoal Dry Shampoo Hair Blotting Tissues ($18 for 16 sheets) and was instantly on board with this fad. The tiny tissues are packed with activated black charcoal powder to sop up oil, build-up, and sweat (and they actually work). A couple pats on your roots will leave them looking and feeling refreshed. This is especially handy when traveling and working out. The IGK SWIPE UP No-Frizz Smoothing Hair Wipes ($18 for 16 sheets) are also promising, thanks to their ability to quickly smooth over frizzy flyaways without the use of heavy product. A quick swipe of the natural hemp papers over your strands will leave them softer, shinier, and free of static.

Another noteworthy option is the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Cap System ($36), which launched in October and was inspired by the K-beauty masking craze. It takes the sealed-in, precise treatment method sheet masks offer the skin and applies the concept to your strands (especially useful if you have weak, broken locks). You apply the essence-enriched deep conditioner and follow it up with a special cap that has micro-oil beads to amp up the repairing and lock it in — just like a sheet mask would. Next time your mane needs some TLC, give one of these souped-up strand-savers a try.
