It's transformed my weak, wiry hair.

You’d enjoy showering at my apartment. Sure, you’d be in a guest bathroom the size of most people’s closets — I do live in New York City, after all — but nevertheless, Nécessaire products, perpetually stocked in my powder room, are a spa-like treat for the senses, and for the often-neglected skin below the chin.

Established as a bodycare brand, Nécessaire forayed into haircare in 2021, with fragrance-free shampoo and conditioner. Infused with powerful ingredients, like hyaluronic acid, the formulas did for my tight, dry winter scalp what the brand’s moisturizer did for my face; smooth and hydrate. The brand just bolstered its repertoire with two new additions — which are absolutely worth snagging, especially if you’re seeking longer, stronger, fuller hair.

Nécessaire’s Rosemary shampoo and accompanying conditioner are made for all hair types and textures — including thinning, weak, or damaged hair. The shampoo, acting as the  strengthening cleanse, and the conditioner, like a strengthening cream, prove beautiful in all respects: From the sleek sage exteriors to the fresh, herbaceous scent to the shampoo’s satisfyingly fluffy lather and the conditioner’s rich, creamy slip. It’s gentle enough for daily use (I can attest to this!), the color-safe formulas facilitate fuller-looking hair after just one single use, and healthier, stronger strands will appear over time.

Best of all? The shampoo leaves my roots feeling lighter and scalp satisfyingly clean without stripping away moisture. The conditioner coats my thirsty hair, leaving my typically wiry mane significantly sleeker and smooth.  Most notable, however, are the formulas’ growth-promoting ingredients, a key being ever-buzzy rosemary.

Rosemary is superb for reviving frail hair. As dermatologist Dr. Marisa Garshick, MD, previously confirmed, rosemary can, in fact, “stimulate hair growth.” Specifically, it increases blood flow to the scalp, thus fostering an environment for follicles to thrive. Scientific evidence has shown rosemary can compete with minoxidil, the active ingredient in hair growth products like Rogaine.

Additionally, both the shampoo and conditioner contain ceramides, naturally occurring lipids that strengthen the all-important skin barrier. Ceramide-spiked shampoo, though less common than ceramide-rich face creams, makes sense: A healthy scalp yields healthier hair, as the adage goes.

Peptides are also present. Per the brand, these proteins “stimulate follicles” and, consequently, “minimize hair thinning.” Finally, a quintuplet of additional, plant-derived proteins fortify feeble strands, rendering them less likely to snap.

For stronger, fuller, hair, a healthier scalp, and a dash of elevated minimalism on your shower shelf, shop Nécessaire Rosemary Shampoo and Rosemary Conditioner. It’s a mainstay in my routine, and I guarantee it will be one in yours, too.
