Hailey Bieber's Pink Pearl Nails Are a Coquette Dream

She's returning to her glazed roots.

Two years ago, Hailey Bieber was synonymous with pearly, glazed donut manicures. She infamously wore them to the Met Gala, across LA, and in numerous Rhode photoshoots. However, by this time last year, she began experimenting with more colorful nail looks, like mismatched manis, “Fruity Pebble” nails, and tie-dye designs. However, life is cyclical, and lately, Bieber has been returning to her sheer, shiny nail roots.

The first time we noticed this was with her blush nails. While on a tropical getaway, she wore her nails practically naked, with a flush of sheer pink matching her rosy cheeks. Then, she reinvented her classic glazed donut manicure for an Oscars after-party, adding a slight twist to the timeless look. Now? She just posted what could be the shiniest, most pearlescent nails she’s ever worn—and we are obsessed.

On March 20, Bieber posted an Instagram carousel full of selfies under the sunset sky. With some “sunshine and [a] salty tan,” she posed in Frankies Bikinis' lacy Harmony Mini Dress ($180) while touching up some blush. Although we took this a confirmation that a Rhode blush is imminent (she tagged the brand), we couldn’t help but be the most excited about her super shimmery manicure.

As is normally the case with Bieber’s nails, the new style sat on top of medium-length almond-shaped nails. Then, the fun, shiny part started.

Very similar to her infamous glazed donut chrome nail look, this was an ultra-shiny, nearly reflective “your nails but better” look. This look had a perfected, even base that made the natural pinks of her nails shine through, just amped up to be a soft baby pink shade. Then, on top, there was a light chrome finish, creating a pearlescent effect that reflected the sunset.

Luckily for us, the look isn’t too hard to recreate at home, and you might even have everything you need already in your nail collection.

First, as with any nail look, remove any lingering nail polish with remover. Then, cut and file your nails to the desired length and shape—this would also be the time to apply any tips or press-on if you want. After that, buff the surface for an even nail bed before applying your favorite base coat.

After the base coat dries, apply a single coat of a sheer pale pink. (If you don't have one in your stash, just thin out your favorite light pink polish with nail polish remover). Then, take a fine-milled, light silver eyeshadow or chrome powder like Mia Secret’s Metallic Flakes ($13), and dust it across your nails. Then, seal it in with a top coat and you're ready for a sunset selfie sesh.
