Hailey Bieber’s ’80s Revival Is Fully Under Way With Stirrups and Boxy Shoulder Pads

Leave it to Hailey Bieber to make some of the most controversial trends from the ’80s look undeniably cool.

The Rhode founder revived the decade in a new look she wore while picking up lunch in Los Angeles earlier this week. Her ensemble consisted of fresh and modern riffs off of ’80s fads, such as a boxy tan blazer with pronounced shoulder pads and a pair of skintight black stirrup leggings, which she wore over a pair of kitten-heel mules from Toteme.

As she’s an ambassador for Saint Laurent, it’s no surprise Bieber accessorized the look with pieces from the luxe fashion house. This included a slim pair of black oval sunglasses and a slouchy black leather tote bag.

The model’s predisposition for wearing throwbacks to the styles of prior decades is well documented.

For instance, on a dinner date last month with husband Justin Bieber, Hailey channeled Rachel Green from ’90s sitcom Friends, wearing a pair of light-wash denim overalls from Dickies. She layered the extremely slouchy overalls over a plain white T-shirt, and elevated the look with a long black coat and a pair of matching black pumps.

“I get photographed so much that I feel like sometimes I put pressure on myself,” she said in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s September 2022 cover story. “Even if I’m just throwing on jeans and a T-shirt, I want it to be a dope pair of jeans and a great T-shirt!”
