Last week, she posted to her Instagram story asking her followers for costume ideas, but someone used that as an opportunity to shame her for being a "fake Christian." According to Buzzfeed, Hailey is a practicing Evangelical Christian who clapped back immediately.
The debate about whether one should celebrate Halloween as a Christian is somewhat controversial. The word "Halloween" is actually derived from "All Hallows' Eve" which means the day before All Saint's Day, according to Medium. Hailey is part of the group of people that thinks celebrating Halloween is a nod to the religion as well. When a follower asked her "Halloween yes or no" on Instagram, she quoted a famous worship songwriter, explaining how the holiday coincides with the Christian calendar.
"I'm not afraid of the world. I'm not afraid of any devil or demon or incantation. They are terrified of me," she quoted on her Instagram story. "Halloween is now MY HOLIDAY and I am claiming all candy for the glory of God and the celebration of the Saints," said the post.
