Hailey Bieber Updates Princess Diana’s Iconic Sporty Style

The late Princess Diana had many virtues, including inimitable charm and an understated sense of royal style. But fashion fans will remember she had a real flair for athleisure, too. Who could forget those iconic photos of Princess Diana running around town in a baggy “Fly Atlantic” pullover sweater, peach bike shorts, and chunky runners? Hailey Bieber certainly remembers: the trendsetting model just put her own millennial twist on the look.

EXCLUSIVE Hailey Bieber is "Unavailable" as she arrives to the gym

Today, Bieber made her way to the gym in Los Angeles sporting Princess Diana’s signature off-duty pairing: a baggy sweater worn over tight leggings. But she updated the throwback style. Bieber’s Vetements sweater read “Unavailable”—an ironic streetwear piece that could not be more Gen Y. She then slipped on some funky sneakers, which were very Yeezy-esque in shape. And she finished off the look with a Vous baseball cap and a discreet shoulder bag that was too small to be a gym bag, unlike Princess Diana’s large totes (yet another styling update—mini bags are all the rage).

This isn’t the first time Bieber has paid tribute to Princess Diana. Back in August, the model appeared in an editorial for Vogue Paris wearing modern-day recreations of the royal’s best athleisure looks. But this latest remake proves she’s a true Diana diehard.
