Hailey Baldwin Shared Her Beauty Routine With Us — and It's Less Pricey Than You'd Think

If you could curl up on a couch with model Hailey Baldwin, you would notice a few things: Her flawless skin, the sparkling diamond taking up quite a bit of space just below the knuckle on her left ring finger, and her goofy, laid-back personality, which is happily at odds with the serious-faced smolders you see in ad campaigns. And you might find yourself so comfortable that you'd sit, cross-legged, and ask her every last question about at least one of those things. No, not the ring — the skin. And thankfully, she won't tell you she just drinks a lot of water.

"I’m like a hoarder when it comes to skin-care products. If you were to open my cabinets you’d be like, ‘What do you need these 45 lotions for?'" Baldwin says. (Same here at Allure HQ — same, same, same.) But she's also into makeup, too. And Baldwin is the newest face of Bareminerals, a line she says her mom introduced her to when she was a kid. "I always remember my mom using Bareminerals — the blush, the powders, the lipsticks — she was a big fan because she’s into all-organic, natural [products], and obviously that’s what you get with Bareminerals," she says.

Baldwin, being the chill individual she is, took time to spill even more on her beauty and wellness habits. Read on to find out her minimalist makeup routine, tattoos, her go-to hairstylists, and more.

On being a fake-lash prodigy:

I used to be a ballet dancer, so my earliest beauty memories are of stage makeup. Red lipstick, crazy cheeks, the eyeliner with the white in the middle to make your eyes bigger on stage, the whole thing. I was really good at stage makeup, actually. I was doing fake lashes at age 12.

On her Achilles heel:

One thing I’ll only wear if someone else applies it is liquid eyeliner. I hate doing liquid eyeliner. I’m not bad at it, but I hate doing it.

On quickies:

I can do my makeup in under two minutes. I put on one of the Bareminerals BarePro Glow Highlighters, a little mascara, and a little bit of lip color. That’s it. My favorite shades of the highlighter are Whimsy and Joy — they’re like highlighter and blush all in one. It’s like you’re doing two things at the same time. So if I’m going to get something on my face before I leave the house, or I’m in the car last-minute, it’s one of those.

On beauty under $10:

The cheapest beauty staples I own are probably like drugstore-bought, like Vaseline and Aquaphor-type things. I’m big on drugstore beauty. Lip balms, leave-in conditioner, and makeup wipes. I think the Neutrogena ones work best.

On beauty over $100:

I’ll splurge on skin care. I’m big on really nice masks — good sheet masks. I like the ones by Shiseido and SK-II. I go through my skin care pretty quick. I use Barbara Sturm’s serums. All of them. I love the calming serum, it’s really good. And then I use the Bareminerals Skinlongevity serum when I fly. I’m like a hoarder when it comes to skin-care products. If you were to open my cabinets you’d be like, ‘What do you need these 45 lotions for?’ I don’t know, I need to just try them.

On staying healthy in the air:

I travel with lysine a lot. Because I’m so busy traveling, I feel like I start to get sick a lot, so I try to take lysine with me whenever I travel.

On tattoos and God:

It’s my parents’ wedding date, because I was like, ‘They can’t be as mad if it’s dedicated to them.’ With all the rest, I went in not even knowing what I wanted. I would just go in on a random late night and be like, ‘I want three dots on my finger.’ it was all over the place. Jonboy does all my tattoos. I’ve been getting tattoos from him since I was 18 — I met him in Hillsong [church]. He has prayed over me before and it’s what I needed to hear when I needed to hear it. I think that it says something to have somebody putting something on your body, and for the spirit behind it to be from the right place.

On her next (Bieber-inspired?) tattoo:

I would get a certain initial on my finger.

On her mane men:

I’ve been using the same people to cut and color my hair for the last four years. I have someone in LA — his name’s Florido. He does my extensions whenever I put those in. I also go to Cutler salon here in New York to see Ryan Pearl. He’s done my hair color for a long time also. I trust either of those fine gents to touch my hair.

On getting-ready playlists:

I listen to rap music. I really liked the Drake album, I thought that was just a fun album. I like Cardi B. She’s fun. And she’s actually so nice. She’s really, really nice.

On her Netflix queue:

I was just binge-watching Sharp Objects. I was obsessed with watching it every single day.
