H&M to Collaborate With Rotate Birger Christensen on Holiday Party Capsule

PARIS — Hot on the sold-out heels of Rabanne, H&M is partnering with Copenhagen-based brand Rotate Birger Christensen for its next designer collaboration.

The Scandi celebrity and social media favorite will present a 20-item, festive collection just in time for the holidays. The label is known for its statement party dresses.

“This collection is perfect for the upcoming party season. Rotate’s approach to fashion is truly upbeat, and we are happy to bring such a positive and vibrant message to H&M customers,” said H&M head designer of womenswear Ann-Sofie Johansson.

The capsule marks the fifth anniversary for the brand, itself founded as a capsule for legacy brand Birger Christensen in 2020. The 150-year-old Danish house reached out to fashion influencers Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, who presented a first collection of seven bold and bright looks including a buttoned-up, puff-sleeved minidress that became an Instagram staple.

It landed on Gigi Hadid, while Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Katy Perry have also worn pieces from the brand.

They presented their most recent collection for spring 2024 at Copenhagen Fashion Week back in August.

The design focus has always been on bright, anti-minimalist party pieces uncommon for Scandi style. Eight core shapes and looks will be reinterpreted in new colorways for H&M. Lavender lace and a lavender and black floral print has been created exclusively for the capsule.

“Partnering with H&M allows us to infuse a touch of modern magic into our classic Rotate style. Our mood board is brimming with celebratory imagery, elements of Scandinavian glamour and themes of empowerment and femininity,” Madsen and Valdimars said. The collection is meant to “promote empowerment and joy in the wearer.”

The popular minidress will be available in white and the floral print, while a ruched, shoulder-baring mini will be available in pink or the floral print.

Other dresses including a blazer style, a midi-length and two short, body-con styles will be available, as will a bandeau top and coordinating skirt.

The collection will be available Nov. 28.
