H.E.R. Wore a Bedazzled Braid for Her 2020 Emmys Performance
Ahead of her “in memoriam” performance at the 2020 Emmmys, singer H.E.R. shared a picture of her look on Instagram in lieu of walking the red carpet. As if her gorgeously colorful Vera Wang dress wasn't enough, H.E.R. went the extra mile and bedazzled her hair for a look that deserves an award of its own.
Hairstylist Nina Monique pulled back the singer's hair into a sleek ponytail and braided it. Then, she stuck twinkling silver gems all around H.E.R.'s head. If you're thinking of recreating the look at home, Allure's Gabi Throne likes to lock her own hair jewels in place with a strong-hold hair gel, like Got2b's Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Gel.
And that's not all: Nina Monique also laid H.E.R.'s edges in stunning swirls along her hairline. For those who want to try something similar, hairstylist Kahh Spence recommends creating the wavy design with a disposable spooley brush. "It's easier to comb through the hair [with a spooley] because it's so small and used to define lashes, so why not use it on our baby hairs?" Spence explained in a past tutorial.
Makeup artist Marissa Vossen complemented H.E.R.'s fanciful hair and gown with lush falsies, mauve lips, and sunset-like eye shadow. She blended together purple and corals shadows for a dreamy wash of color on the singer's lids — and a look that's officially inspired us to get dressed up next weekend (even if we're just partying on our couches).
