  • Musician H.E.R.—who usually hides her face with dark, oversized sunglasses while in and out of public—revealed her face on the 2020 Grammys red carpet.

  • The R&B singer still donned sunglasses but opted for a red-tinted, sheer-lensed pair of wire rimmed aviators revealing more of her face than fans have ever been able to see.

Musician H.E.R. showed off a new side of herself on the Grammys red carpet this evening.

The “Focus” singer, who traditionally conceals her face with oversized sunglasses when in public, gave fans a closer look at the girl behind the shades tonight. The R&B songstress, born Gabriella Wilson, still donned '70s-inspired, wire-rimmed aviator shades for the 62nd annual Grammy Awards, but this pair was sheer, lightly tinted, and more revealing than her usual selection of darker-shaded sunnies.

H.E.R. continued to embrace a vintage, psychedelic-inspired look with a flowing, printed Dsquared2 kimono paired with a metallic gold oversized leather belt and matching layered gold chains, with her flowing locks pinned up in a chic high bun.

H.E.R. has expressed in the past that her decision to keep a discreet public image is a purposeful one—the singer told ELLE magazine in 2018 that her persona allows fans to truly listen and focus on her music, rather than her appearance.

"[My look] has allowed me to make the music the focus, and for people not to care about the superficial things or who I'm associated with, what clique I belong to—all those things that don't matter," the singer told ELLE. "It's really made people focus on the music, and that's what's special about it."

The singer is nominated for an impressive five awards at this year's 62nd annual Grammy Awards, including a nomination for Record of the Year for her single "Hard Place."
