H.E.R.'s Acoustic Cover of “7 Things” is Miley Cyrus-Approved
Miley Cyrus knows her way around a good cover; the musician has been sharing personalized renditions of her favorite songs for years, from "Jolene" by Dolly Parton to "Gimme More" by Britney Spears to "Zombie" by the Cranberries. It turns out that Miley is equally into covers of her songs, and recently gave her stamp of approval to an acoustic version of her 2008 rocker "7 Things" as interpreted by award-winning musician H.E.R.
Miley retweeted H.E.R.'s video, a slowed-down, heartfelt take on the pop-punk-influenced song, and commented, “I LoVe EvErYthInG aBoUt ThIs & YOU!” H.E.R. originally shared the 40-second clip on her own Twitter account, writing, "IYKYK" and tagging Miley, who is clearly a fan of her take on the tune.
Fans were equally obsessed with H.E.R.'s cover of "7 Things" and flooded both Miley and H.E.R.'s Twitter mentions with pleas for both a duet and a full-length cover. "Yeah…I’m gonna need a full cover, you brought that on yourself," wrote one fan. "THIS IS WHAT A [sic] CALL THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS," tweeted another. Many fans also begged Miley to sing "7 Things" during her next concert, as it's been a while since she performed the beloved fave.
Miley and H.E.R. haven't appeared on stage together (yet), but they have come close; both musicians performed at the 2021 Super Bowl, with H.E.R. singing "America the Beautiful" and Miley throwing it back to the '80s for her pre-game show. H.E.R.'s cover of "7 Things" is bringing these two superstar talents closer, and we're hoping that means a collaboration between them is on the horizon. There are definitely more than seven things we'd love about that!
