Update 8/29/19 10:00 a.m.: Well, after breaking up for less than 24 hours, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her fiancé, Ken, are back together. According to In Touch, they're trying to take it slow and keep their relationship private, but their engagement is definitely back on. As for their wedding, that's still supposed to happen in 2020. Brace yourselves: Next year is going to be a wild ride.

Original Story 8/28/19 4:30 p.m.: Uh, so, remember when everyone was really surprised that Gypsy Rose Blanchard got engaged to some guy named Ken while she was still in prison? Well, apparently, that’s over now and they just broke up. Eek!

But first! Let’s take a quick walk down memory lane. Gypsy, who is serving time for the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, met Ken through a prison pen-pal program—he wrote to her first and later visited her multiple times in jail. Initially, Gypsy and her family were keeping her relationship with Ken under wraps, but in the time between the engagement news and their split, they released a photo of all of them together. Now, the picture lives on E!’s Instagram page for everyone to see:

(That’s Gypsy’s father, Rod, and her stepmother, Kristy, in the photo, BTW.)

In April, a Blanchard family friend named Fancy Macelli told In Touch, “They don’t know exactly what they’re going to do when she gets out. It’s a long way down the road, obviously, so things can change.”

Gypsy is up for parole in 2023, but now it looks like she won’t be planning her wedding anymore or calling Ken if she gets out.

Today, E!’s source said:

“The two were planning to get married in January while Gypsy is still in prison, but they have now canceled those plans. Both Gypsy and Ken are brokenhearted over the situation and still have nothing but love for each other. They each intend on taking some time apart to focus on themselves as individuals.”

Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend and the guy who was charged with the first-degree murder of Dee Dee, Nicholas Godejohn, is reminiscing about their “magical” days together.
