The world couldn't look away from Gwyneth Paltrow's trial in March of last year, where retired optometrist Terry Sanderson sued the star over a collision at Deer Valley Resort. (Paltrow's stealth wealth trial style was a hit.) That trial has since been adapted for stage in a musical play—Gwyneth Goes Skiing—which premiered in London in December 2023, and will make its U.S. debut later this year.

The synopsis is as follows: "She’s the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-In-Loving, consciously-uncoupling Hollywood superstar. He’s a retired Optometrist from Utah. In 2016, they went skiing. On the slopes of Deer Valley, their worlds collided, and so did they – literally. Ouch. Seven years later in 2023, they went to court. Double ouch. This is their story. Kind of. Not really. But also, it’s at Christmas."

In the London run at Pleasance London Main House Cabaret, Linus Karp starred as Paltrow, and Joseph Martin starred as Sanderson. The show features original music by singer-songwriter Leland (who has worked on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Cher’s Christmas, Troye Sivan’s Something To Give Each Other, among other projects). During the show, the audience members serve as the jury. (In real life, the jury found Paltrow not liable in damages, and that Sanderson was "100 percent" at fault.) As the theater jokes, "Prepare to be gooped. BYOJE (bring your own jade eggs)."

In February 2024, Variety reported that the musical play will be making its transfer to the U.S., having its stateside premiere at the Egyptian Theater in Park City, Utah. (An opening date has yet to be set, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.) Darren Criss joins the cast for the soundtrack, providing Sanderson's singing voice, and Trixie Mattel is joining digitally as Paltrow's mother, Blythe Danner.

We'll update this as soon as we learn more about Gwyneth Goes Skiing.
