Gwyneth Paltrow, a look back at her career

Gwyneth Paltrow was born into show biz. Her father, Bruce Paltrow, was a director and her mother, Blythe Danner, an actress. Paltrow’s godfather is none other than mega director Steven Spielberg. With so many Hollywood connections, Paltrow was destined for the spotlight. One of her first roles was in the TV movie "High" directed by her dad. In 1991, Spielberg gave her the part of a young Wendy in the star-studded movie, "Hook." The cast included Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts and Robin Williams. Paltrow’s big break came in the 1995 film "Se7en," opposite Brad Pitt. The pair got engaged in 1996 but called it off a year later. 1998 was a big year for the actress. She went on to star in five movies: "Sliding Doors," "Great Expectations," "A Perfect Murder," "Hush" and "Shakespeare in Love." It was "Shakespeare in Love" that earned Paltrow her first Oscar nomination, and a win for Best Actress. Since then, she has gone on to star in the "Iron Man" and "Avengers" franchises. She’s also launched her popular lifestyle brand Goop. Paltrow has written a cookbook and yes, she can sing! In 2011, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the TV show "Glee."
