Gwyneth Paltrow stopped by Today on Thursday to talk about her new Netflix show, The Politician — and then some. When asked by host Savannah Guthrie what life with teenagers was like, she didn’t hold back. Guthrie, who is the mother of toddlers, was curious for a preview for what was to come as her kids grow.

Its the best, they’re really coming into themselves, they’re hilarious, they’re smart, they can talk, they can muse about things. Its the greatest,” she gushes, then ends with a real moment: “Yeah, they can be kind of dicks once and a while.”

Guthrie laughed, admitting that she isn’t sure if they can even use the word on T.V. (The version later uploaded to Today’s website bleeped Paltrow.)

It was a refreshingly honest moment from the actress and entrepreneur who is so often considered out of touch, largely thanks to her Goop empire and its pricey goods and services. But apparently, no matter how good your jade egg, you can still be subjected to teens who drive you a little crazy (even if you love them to death). Paltrow and Apple have also shown us that not even being an A-lister can save you from embarrassing your kids. So far, no news outlets have rushed to condemn her choice of words because, well, have you ever met a teenager?

Elsewhere in the interview, Paltrow got a little bit more serious about what being a mother to a teen daughter has meant to her. When Guthrie asked Paltrow about her role in bringing down Harvey Weinstein, she spoke candidly about her inspiration. While she was scared to step forward, she said that “having a teenage daughter that’s the love of my life, and worrying about her going into the workplace” weighed heavily on her.

“If there’s ever a chance that there could be a cultural shift on this stuff, I wanted to participate,” she added, admitting that she still didn’t predict a shift this “seismic.”

And while the interview was relatively short, there was time for Paltrow to squeeze in one more quotable moment. She knows you saw her penguin walk at the Emmys, and she only has one thing to say: “I think I looked pretty normal.”
