Gwendoline Christie was once told that she wouldn’t make it as an actress due to being a 6 foot, 3 inch woman, as she has shared in many interviews. But since debuting on television as Brienne of Tarth in HBO’s massive hit “Game of Thrones” in 2012, Christie has found her audience not only on screen but also on fashion runways.

Before “Game of Thrones,” Christie had some experiences as a model and posed for Australian photographer Polly Borland in a series titled “Bunny.” Her debut on the runway, however, came after joining the drama. She was invited to walk for Vivienne Westwood at the brand’s fall 2015 show during Paris Fashion Week.

More from WWD

In the last decade, Christie, who has been cast in other hit series such as “The Sandman” and “Wednesday,” was invited to walk for Miu Miu, Thom Browne and Tomo Koizumi, always wearing dramatic silhouettes and bringing her theatrical background to the runway.

On Thursday, Christie closed Maison Margiela’s spring 2024 couture show in Paris, wearing a porcelain doll-inspired look with makeup reminiscing Bette Davis in “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane…?”

Here, WWD takes a look back at Christie’s runway appearances through the years.
