Gwen Stefani lit up the Met Gala red carpet with a one-of-a-kind neon gown — a possible homage to her country music singer husband, Blake Shelton.

On May 2, the 52-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer arrived at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a stunning two-piece ball gown designed by Vera Wang. The “Hollaback Girl” vocalist wore a strapless bodice and full skirt accented with flowers. Gwen completed the look with matching evening gloves.

Considering the theme for this year’s Met Gala was "Gilded Glamour" (a continuation of 2021's "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion"), some people were confused by Gwen’s bright choice. However, one fan immediately took to Twitter with a theory that it might have been a way to honor Blake, who wasn’t by her side at fashion’s big night.

“When @gwenstefani’s in Neon Green @VeraWang dress & @blakeshelton’s singing about Neon Time. I have to do it,” one Twitter user posted following Gwen’s red carpet walk.

As a refresher, Blake released his song “Neon Time” back in 2021. What else happened in 2021? Blake and Gwen got married. Clearly, he (and his song) were top of mind for Gwen, who was at the Met Gala with Vera Wang, who designed her wedding dress and invited her to the much-anticipated New York City fashion event.

Following the event, Gwen took to her Instagram Story to share her excitement about the special event. “That’s it, it’s over!" she said from the back of a van. "Well, it was fun to be out in New York and it was glamorous. And now I’m gonna go see my husband."

Of course, Gwen’s dress isn’t the only thing about her Met Gala ensemble that made a splash — her beauty look did, too. According to the former Voice coach, her makeup artist canceled last minute but it was no problem. Gwen revealed that she was a makeup artist herself in her 20s and she's kept her passion for the artistry.

To accent her bold gown, Gwen busted out beauty products from her new makeup line, GXVE. Rather than her classic red lip and black eyeliner, Gwen paired her gorgeous neon two-piece with an embellished metallic blue wingtip and a subtle-yet-chic nude lip. To get the look, she used the GXVE Line It Up Eyeliner in the shade Bathwater and a mixture of two nude lipsticks, which are launching soon. To be alerted when they do, subscribe to GXVE now.

We'd say that Gwen nailed it!
