The Voice fans may be disappointed about Blake Shelton exiting the hit competition series, but he is lucky to have his wife Gwen Stefani in his corner.

As the couple continues to coach season 22 of the hit NBC series, Gwen has also taken time to attend industry events. During a recent appearance at the 2022 Matrix Awards in New York City, she was asked for her thoughts on Blake leaving The Voice after 23 seasons. While she admitted she wasn't quite prepared for her husband's big decision, she was incredibly supportive of all the work he's put into making the show as popular as it is now.

"I wasn’t ready, you know what I mean?" she told Entertainment Tonight on October 30."I have to figure out who this new Blake’s going to be, right? But I’m just so proud of him."

Despite the support from Gwen, fans shared how sad they were to see the veteran coach go. "Blake’s the heart and soul of #TheVoice so I will not be able to watch after he leaves," one person wrote on YouTube. "Blake Shelton probably moving on to better things, but maybe in the near future he will return," another commented. "The Voice won't be the same without Blake, but wish him the very best," a different follower added.

As TV-goers know, Blake has been involved with The Voice since its inaugural season in April 2011. While many celebrities have come and gone as coaches (last season featured Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande in the red chairs), Blake quickly became the staple musician and has won eight times throughout his tenure. But as Gwen pointed out later in the interview, his true gift is making people smile every week.

"He’s brought so much joy and he’s so talented and I know people just wait around to laugh and watch him on TV," she continued telling Entertainment Tonight. "So I feel sorry for everybody. He’s going to be gone and I’m just so proud of him."

While everyone is sad to see Blake go, it's not going to happen just yet. Not only do viewers have one more season with him, but the country singer is going to compete against Kelly (who is returning for season 23) and new coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper for a coveted win in his final go-around.
