You Guys, a ‘Supermarket Sweep’ Reboot Is in the Works!

Ladies and gents, start your engines shopping carts. Supermarket Sweep, the iconic ’90s game show, is making a comeback.

Today, FremantleMedia announced it has obtained the global rights to revive the classic shopping TV series Supermarket Sweep and has every intention of bringing the binge-worthy grocery games back to the small screen. According to Vasha Wallace, EVP of global acquisitions and development, “The time is ripe to bring back this all-time favorite game show which has traveled with such success over the years. Now, modern technology allows us the opportunity to update the show, making it relevant for a 21st century audience.”

The original Supermarket Sweep aired on ABC from 1965 to 1967 and made its first comeback on Lifetime from 1990 to 1995, which was followed by a short-lived revival on PAX (DBA Ion) in 2007. The TV phenomenon featured contestants competing in a series of challenges based on the prices of products and merchandise found in the average supermarket.
