Guys, We’re Finally Getting a Mermaid Emoji (and 55 Others We Can’t Wait For)
Sound the alarms! Prepare your thumbs! Charge your devices! Apple just announced 56 new emojis coming to an iPhone near you in the coming weeks, and we’re freaking out.
From mythical creatures (vampires and mermaids and fairies—oh, my!) and foods we didn’t know we needed until now (a freshly baked pie, a Chinese takeout box and broccoli) to new smileys and people (holy $#!^, there’s a swearing one) and stylish wardrobe upgrades (it’s about time we had a scarf to emoji-fy our fave winter outfit) and so much more, there’s something for everybody in the newest rollout.
The emojis are included in the iOS 11.1 update, which will be available next week to anyone who signs up for Apple’s public beta software testing, and within the next few weeks for everyone else.
Of course we’re excited, but we’re still slightly bummed there’s not a sweatpants-and-Lays emoji to describe our perfect Friday night. We’ll wait...
