This Guy Is Selling a Popeyes Chicken Sandwich for $100

If you’ve been on the internet at all during the last few days, you know that people are going absolutely bananas for Popeyes’ new chicken sandwich. The thing is supposedly better than Chick-fil-A’s signature item, so it makes sense.

One Maryland man took to Facebook yesterday to capitalize on the hysteria.

Anthony Washburn listed one unopened Popeyes chicken sandwich on for sale in the public Facebook group DMV Yard Sale—and he’s asking for a whopping $100. Of course, that’s not including the $38.52 delivery fee for buyers within a 25-mile radius.

“This is THE chicken sandwich that has everyone on the Internet going crazy,” Washburn wrote. “Buy mine & Save yourself the 45 minute wait at Popeyes.”

So, just so everyone is clear, this man is selling a day-old $4 chicken sandwich for one hundred freakin’ bucks.

This seems insane on the surface. But, speaking as someone who tried (and failed miserably) to get the sandwich yesterday, it really ain’t a bad idea.

Let me paint a picture: The drive-thru line was affecting traffic, the parking lot was a mess, and the wait time for one sandwich was approaching an hour.

Don’t even get me started on the madness that was going on inside the restaurant. You know those clips of the New York Stock Exchange they play on the news when the market is booming? Those look relaxing compared to this.

It was—and I cannot stress this enough—the worst.

I’m sure the sandwich is great, I really do. But, here’s all I’m saying: I’d gladly pay $100 to never have to do that again.
