One year following beloved Chef Carl Ruiz's death, his friends and fans gathered virtually to celebrate and remember him. This included Guy Fieri, who sent out a call to Carl's fans and friends to honor his memory by supporting their local restaurants.

In a video on his Instagram page on Monday, Guy called on his followers to celebrate "The Great Cuban," who he called "one of the greatest chefs, one of my best friends, and one of the funniest people I've ever met in my life." He suggested they do so by taking care of their local restaurants and supporting workers like Carl did during his life and like he was sure he would be doing now, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Do what he did," Guy suggested. "He loved to go out and eat food and go to restaurants, and he used to love to tip big. He was a big fan of the industry, always taking care of his brothers and sisters in the biz."

Guy then challenged everyone to order food for take-out or dine in and then "tip super generously." He also asked that people mark their receipt or cash tip with #dontstopruizing and post it for all to see. The hashtag is now full of people doing just that, with photos of big tips and fans sharing their favorite memories of Carl.

In addition to Guy's post, many of Carl's other famous friends also posted in his memory including Guy's son Hunter, who called Carl a "one of a kind person." Fellow Food Network star Alex Guarnaschelli posted a photo calling him a "one-man party," and Chef Aaron May posted a sweet photo of the pair embracing.
