Our Guide to 2024's Trending Swimsuits

As long as a swimsuit is comfortable and covers what you need it to, the rest is really up to preference. That said, trying to navigate the rapidly growing swimwear market and evolving trend cycle to find something you love can be daunting.

Each season brings a bevy of new swim styles to our feeds. Last year, we predicted bows, ruffles, and rosettes would cover swimsuits far and wide, and indeed they did. "Girl-core" continued to grow in popularity well into 2024, and these dainty details continue to dominate.

But new aesthetics are starting to emerge in swimwear: Perhaps fueled by Halle Bailey's turn as Ariel last year, mermaid motifs are everywhere, with brands like Adriana Degreas and PatBo debuting shell-bra bikinis and shell-embellished suits.

Maximalists will also love to hear that bold bikinis are having a moment, by way of animal prints (leopard and zebra) and sparkly suits, either bejeweled with crystals or rendered in glittering fabric. But, have no fear, minimalists: The contrast-trim trend offers a quieter way to make a statement. And of course, solid neutrals and classic silhouettes will always be in fashion.
