Gucci Shoe Collaborations Through the Years: Adidas, Balenciaga, Disney and More

For the last century, Gucci has become an established label within the fashion arena due to its quality materials and craftsmanship. Its infamous double G logo has been seen on top stars at several red carpet events. Its influence in the fashion industry has allowed the brand to gain an impressive list of global ambassadors like Dakota Johnson, Harry Style and Jared Leto.

Along with its celebrated collections, Gucci has also continued to gain attention through its work with other brands, resulting in many footwear collaborations over the years.

Gucci’s list of footwear collaborations includes children’s brands like Disney and high-end labels like Balenciaga. The brand’s iconic monogram print has taken over staple footwear styles like Balenciaga’s Triple S and Adidas’ Gazelle sneakers. Many collaborations have also incorporated the brand’s own shoe silhouettes like the Horsebit loafer and the Ace sneakers.

Here is a look at Gucci’s footwear collaborations over the years.

Gucci x Disney, 2016

For Gucci’s spring 2017 menswear collection, the fashion house collaborated with Disney on an apparel and footwear line the Italian label’s iconic Horsebit loafer. The black leather silhouette featured mismatched embroidered patches, Donald Duck and a lobster, along the toebox. It was completed with the brand’s signature Dionysus clasp and an embroidered co-branded logo along the footbed. The set retailed for $1,590.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Mouse, Gucci teamed up with Disney in 2020 on a limited-edition collection that included the label’s iconic Ace sneaker. The brown canvas upper featured an all-over double G logo design and a laying Mickey Mouse graphic on top of the white sole. The $670 set was completed with a green leather heel tab.

Gucci and Balenciaga collaborated in 2021 on The Hacker Project which blended both of the label’s signature aesthetics together. Along with co-branded apparel, Balenciaga’s Triple S sneaker took on three new colorways that featured iconic details from both brands like Gucci’s double G logo and Balenciaga’s 37. The limited-edition set was released in November of that year and retailed for $1290.

Gucci x Freya Hartas, 2021

In 2021, the Italian fashion house tapped children’s illustrator Freya Hartas for its fall 2021 collection. Along with a lineup of sweaters and graphic T-shirts, the collaboration included a rendition of the iconic Ace sneaker. The set featured a mythically-inspired animal character against a red and black striped panel. Completing the white leather sneakers was a red leather heel tab.

Gucci x The North Face 2021

For their first collaboration, Gucci and North Face created a gender-neutral hiking boot. Dressed in three neutral colorways, the silhouette featured an old-school Goodyear-welted sole and a co-branded logo along the side of the leather upper. The set was completed with rope-like laces and oversized eyelets. The 1970s-inspired collection sold out quickly when it was released in January 2021.

For Gucci’s Lunar New Year capsule in 2021, the label partnered with the Japanese manga series “Doraemon” on a limited-edition collection. The capsule included renditions of iconic footwear silhouettes like the Ace and Rhyton styles. Each silhouette featured the classic colorways interrupted by a graphic of the show’s characters against the upper. The collection’s shoe styles ranged from $390-$890.

Gucci x Adidas, 2022

Gucci released a collaboration with Adidas that included several reimagined versions of the Gazelle sneaker. First revealed at the designer’s fall 2022 show in February, the footwear from the collection portrayed the kaleidoscopic aesthetic of the Gucci artistic director Alessandro Michele. One of the low-top sets featured a pink velvet upper with a green heel tab and a magenta toe cap.

Gucci x Palace, 2022

In 2022, Gucci partnered with Palace Skateboards to create a collection of apparel and footwear inspired by the streetwear brand’s cross-generational influence on youth culture. The line included pieces that saw a fusion between Gucci’s double G logo and Palace’s Tri-Ferg triangle. Along with a “P” charm, the co-branded logo was seen in three colorways on the fashion house’s Horsebit loafers.

Following the success of their initial collaboration, Gucci and North Face created another collection in 2021 including a rendition of the gender-neutral hiking boots. The vibrant orange leather silhouette featured a co-branded logo in the center of a GG-printed panel. A slide style was also available in the GG print, a floral print, and a soft tan merino wool.

The Italian fashion house and Vans teamed up on a sustainable collection in 2023. The brands reimagine three of the Vans’ iconic silhouettes with repurposed materials. Within the collection was a reiterated Old Skool with a floral-printed canvas and black leather panels along the heel and toe box. The $380 set was embellished with silver balls and eyelet studs.

Gucci partnered with Major League Baseball on a spring 2023 menswear collection. The vintage-inspired line included a pair of loafers that was seen in a variety of colorful palettes, with each style interlocking the Gucci logo with a professional baseball team’s emblem. The label’s Basket sneakers were also included in the reiterated pieces with paneled uppers and bohemian stitched leather fringe detailing.

In 2023, Adidas and Gucci collaborated on another apparel and footwear collection that included four iterations of the Gazelle sneaker. Aside from one colorway, each low-top style featured Gucci’s signature GG print throughout the upper. Another footwear style that was included in the capsule is the ZX 8000, which took on a green colorway with a mesh-based upper.
