Gucci’s Restaurant Just Got a Michelin Star

Tucked away in the Gucci Garden—three-floor multi-sensory space dedicated to all things, well, Gucci—in Florence is Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, a fabulous restaurant adorned in shades of lush and plush green. It’s a passion project of Gucci C.E.O. Marco Bizzarri and esteemed chef Massimo Bottura, two childhood friends who wanted to combine food and fashion.

The menu, helmed by chef de cuisine Karime López, includes elevated yet lively dishes like pork buns, purple corn tostada, burgers, and tortellini. (The wide culinary variety is an ode to the Mexican-born chef’s global travels). Since it debuted in 2018, it has become a must-visit for aesthetes in the Italian city.

And now, its acclaim has risen even higher: today, Gucci Osteria was awarded a Michelin Star.

The team was, as expected, ecstatic. “This is an incredible achievement that fills us with joy. I have been friends with Marco for over 40 years and this is a wonderful recognition for the vision that we have created together with the Gucci family. Alessandro Michele has created an incredible space, and his support and inspiration have fuelled us both over the past few years,” Massimo Bottura said in a statement. “When ideas are born of friendships, they harness a different strength and this is just the beginning of an exciting adventure.”

It also further cements Gucci Garden, which is housed in the grand and historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, as a cultural hotspot within the already culture-packed city. When visiting Gucci Garden for the first time two years ago, Vogue described it as a “multipurpose, hyper-layered, kaleidoscopic creative space.” In addition to Gucci Osteria, it also has a boutique, an exhibition space, and a souvenir-slash-book store.
