Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earned a total of $48.2 million USD from its opening day.

According to reports, the opening day total of the third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise included $17.5 million USD in Thursday previews, and is projected to debut with somewhere around $110 million USD to $120 million USD during its opening weekend. If the forecasts are correct, it will log the second-highest opening of 2023 behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie's — which is also led by Guardians of the Galaxy staple Chris Pratt — $146 million USD, but is still approximately $20 million USD lower than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2023.

Vol. 3 sees the return of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn, and also stars Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, Elizabeth Debicki, Maria Bakalova and Sylvester Stallone while James Gunn wrote and helmed the film.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Stranger Things season five could see some delays due to the ongoing writers strike.
