Groom's Surprise First Look with His Dachshund Is Touching People's Hearts

When it comes to your big day it's totally normal to want your pet to be a part of it. One bride recently came up with a brilliant plan to make sure her Dachshund was included in her wedding. And the way she surprised her husband has people absolutely tickled online.

There's much to be said of planning the perfect first look. But in our opinion Madeline Savage-Meineke totally nailed it.

Savage-Meineke knew she wanted to surprise her betrothed, so she dressed their Dachshund in a teeny, tiny wedding dress and sent her dog out ahead of her. In the video, her husband looked so nervous. But then he turned about and BOOM — there was their Doxie sprinting over to him in her dress. He was thrilled! There is so much pressure on a wedding day to be perfect, but seeing your pet somehow makes the whole thing so much better.

"If you are looking for a way to include your dog in your wedding… let this be your idea. He turned around and 100 percent thought it would be me," she wrote in the caption.

The video was positively heartwarming and people online seemed to agree. "This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen," wrote one commenter. "She just loves her pawrents so much," another person mused. "If you have a Dachshund you get it. They’re truly the best," someone else agreed. "This is the only time someone else can wear white to a wedding," joked one person. 

Many people begged the dog mama to share the results of the pictures her photographer took. And she was happy to oblige in a second clip.

You can really see how it made both bride and groom feel more at ease.

Ways to Include Your Dog in Your Wedding

It only makes sense that you'd want your fur-child to be with you at your wedding. So if you're trying to think of a creative way to have them there when you say "I do," here are some ideas.

First, you can have your dog at the ceremony. Many a dog has been a ring bearer, a flower dog, or one of the best men/bridesmaids. Just make sure you have a trusted member of the wedding party bring them down the aisle so they don't run amuck.

Another great idea is to include your pet on your invitations or wedding decor. Working with a graphic artist or illustrator, you might be able to put the sweetest little drawing of them on your cocktail napkins or the decor of your reception tables.

And finally, you can have them do a surprise first look just like this couple did. It makes for such a lasting memory (and a pretty adorable photo too).
