No matter how foolproof your Thanksgiving preparations are, at least one plan usually goes awry. Maybe you dropped your last stick of butter on the ground, burned the dinner rolls, or forgot pecans for the pecan pie. Thank goodness that several grocery stores are open on Thanksgiving Day in 2020 so you can pick up last-minute items. But before dashing out to your local supermarket, take a peek at this list of holiday hours for major grocery retailers across the country. You'll find important information like Whole Foods's and Walmart's Thanksgiving hours. Many stores plan to close early so their employees can enjoy the holiday with their families, so don't plan to pop in during regular store hours.
In order to decrease the odds of having to make a Thanksgiving Day trip to the store, take this tip from Ree Drummond about how she prepares her Thanksgiving menu. "I count backward from Thanksgiving and make a list of what has to be done the day of, what can be done the day before, two days before—all the way back to Monday," she says.
If the thought of all this prep is stressing you out (especially after an already stressful year), you might want to take a look at the restaurants open on Thanksgiving too. Many of them can cater your entire meal for you instead. (And check out these liquor stores open on Thanksgiving too so you might not have to make two trips!)
