Grimes is using her Dune-inspired Met Gala 2021 look to help others.

The musician announced via Instagram that she is auctioning off her metallic face mask and earrings from the event to "raise money to help get BIPOC families out of Ukraine since they're having trouble exiting at the border."

She noted that Be Nice Los Angeles and HVW8 Gallery are exhibiting several pieces from 50 artists at their auction Resistance For Ukraine, in an "aim to support Emergency Response & BIPOC families (black, indigenous, and people of color) in and out of Ukraine."

"Each piece offers a unique interpretation of the theme 'resistance,'" Grimes wrote.

The auction will take place online, via Artsy, and all proceeds go to Diaspora Relief and Razom, groups which provide food, shelter, and evacuation support to those in need.

Grimes's chromed-out Met Gala mask, by Chris Habana, is valued at $1,200. Currently, there is a big for $600.

Grimes' move to help people of color evacuate Ukraine comes as the country continues to fight for the freedom and lives of its people amid Russia's ongoing attacks. Last month, the United Nations reported it had recorded 2,729 civilian deaths among Ukrainians, though the numbers are expected to be much higher. NATO also estimated that 7,000 to 15,000 Russian troops have lost their lives in battle, per the Associated Press.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told CNN that about 2,500 to 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the start of the war this February.

Amid the chaos, Black and South Asian refugees, as well as others of foreign descent, have reported cases of discrimination as they try to cross the Ukrainian border.
