Grilled Cheese Dogs Are Going To Change The Hot Dog Game Forever

I wouldn't call myself a hot dog lover by any means. I probably eat one twice a year. If I'm at a baseball game on a warm day, a dog totally completes the experience. Or if I'm barbecuing with friends and smell one on the grill, I gotta have one. But they don't have to be exclusive to summertime. In fact, we just learned that the best hack for a hot dog isn't cooking it outside at all: It's sandwiching one between a grilled cheese.
Yes, we just made the grilled cheese even more perfect. The Grilled Cheese Dog is one of those mashups we really wished we had thought of sooner. Think about it: Melty cheddar, green onions, seared hot dog, on a buttered hot dog bun. I dunked mine in mustard (because ketchup and hot dogs are NEVER allowed) and it was like a hot dog had grown out of its juvenile ways and was ready to play in the big leagues. I'm game.
Here's how to make one: Roll out the hot dog bun so it's flat. I seasoned softened butter with onion and garlic powders and slathered those on the bottom side of the hot dog bun. Then you want to butterfly your hot dog so it also lays flat by simply slicing it half vertically. Sear the hot dog for a couple minutes to get it charred, then put down the bun, cheddar (but any cheese works), charred dog, and get the cheese nice and melty. Press down the bun and you've got yourself the hottest dog of all time.
