Grab your person, because Grey’s Anatomy star Jake Borelli (Dr. Levi Schmitt) is opening up about what’s to come in the mid-season 17 premiere.

PureWow recently sat down for an exclusive interview with the 29-year-old actor, who dished on the highly anticipated return of Grey’s Anatomy (which is a crossover event with Station 19).

“Schmitt is taking this pandemic one day at a time, just like I have been, and as I assume, most of you have been,” he told PureWow. “We’ve all been going through a lot of ongoing trauma, which can either knock you down, or make you stronger, and I hope for Levi’s sake, that it’s the latter.”

As for the storyline, Borelli revealed that it will further explore Schmitt’s love life. “It is so needed and important to have an out gay man like Levi on primetime television,” he said. “That includes continuing to show that his love is as nuanced and worthy of telling as anyone else’s.”

Borelli also confirmed that the new Grey’s episodes will address Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) major cliffhanger. “You won’t want to miss a beat of this return,” he said. “When I found out what happens, my jaw hit the floor. It’s going to change everything.”

We’ll take your word for it, Schmitt Borelli.

Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC, directly after Station 19.
