Greta Thunberg Met With Prince Charles and We Wouldn't Be Surprised If They're Best Friends Now

Greta Thunberg Met With Prince Charles and We Wouldn't Be Surprised If They're Best Friends Now

The World Economic Forum at Davos brought together a prince and a different kind of world leader when Prince Charles and Greta Thunberg met up, but it's not just the environment that the two bonded over. According to Vanity Fair, there was plenty of talk about plastics, waste, and global warming, but the two also got real about being prominent in the headlines and having their photos taken.

The two met and posed for the cameras, making for a study in contrasts when they were shown together, Charles in his trademark suit and Thunberg in a hoodie. They didn't bring up the plight of the earth in front of the cameras, but they did talk about how weird it was to constantly be photographed.

The Clarence House Twitter account confirmed that this was the very first time that the two had met, though Charles does have a long history with environmentalism, even when it wasn't such a prominent issue. Back in 2018, he told Vanity Fair, "Over 40 years ago, I remember making a speech about the problems of plastic and other waste, but at that stage, nobody was really interested and I was considered old-fashioned, out of touch."

VF adds that Charles has been known to reach out to other world leaders on the issue, something that Thunberg may know a thing or two about, as well.

CNN's Max Foster reported that Prince Charles was actually very excited to meet Thunberg, saying, "[Greta] is remarkable. She represents one of the main reasons why I've been trying to make all this effort all these years. Because as I said, I didn’t want my grandchildren to accuse me of not doing something about this in time."
