Greta Lee’s star-turning performance in Celine Song’s romantic drama Past Lives rightfully has a lot of audience members thinking about love—but what about Lee’s own love story with husband Russ Armstrong?

The two, who have been married for nearly 10 years, first met as students at Northwestern University, and they have since welcomed two children together. “Raising kids with a partner is a gamble,” Armstrong wrote in a Mother’s Day Instagram tribute back in 2019. “When you start dating someone in your 20s you’re generally not considering whether they can whip up a rocket out of a cardboard boxes. No parent is perfect, or very good, at first. I’m not. But I feel like I hit the lottery with you.”

Ahead, we detail everything we know about Armstrong.

They met in college.

The two first met as students at Northwestern University, where Lee studied theater and performed in sketch comedy. They eventually married on September 7, 2014.

He is a screenwriter and actor.

Armstrong has acted in TV shows like Master of None, 30 Rock, Inside Amy Schumer, and When Nature Calls. He also holds writing credits for the latter series, as well as in shows like The Opposition with Jordan Klepper.

In addition to writing and acting, Armstrong has previously produced projects like The Daily Show, How to Become a Cult Leader, and Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj.

He has an Emmy nomination.

In 2011, Armstrong earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Special, which recognized his work on Comedy Central’s Night Of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit For Autism Education.

Greta and Russ have two kids together.

The couple have two young children together: Apollo Joosung, 7, and Raphael Joobaek, 4.

Lee previously opened up about raising kids in a 2023 interview with Yahoo! Life.

“I'm a working mom, so that's a big part of it for me, and in terms of parenting style — it’s just a blend,” she said, adding that she wants to instill a “sense of responsibility and pride in their independence, [but] finding ways to do that is an ever-moving target for sure.”

She also offered some insight into the multi-cultural environment that she and Armstrong are raising their sons in. “We are big advocates of giving them the same thing we eat,” Lee explained. “We eat a lot of rice. There's a lot of soup going on. We'll do ssam, which is like a Korean wrap where you get your veggies in. There’s something called ssamjang, which is a salty, fermented soybean paste. My oldest is a self-proclaimed vegetarian right now, so there's tofu, there's eggs.”

They have attended couple's therapy together.

In a profile for Kinfolk, writer Rachel Syme notes:After we meet, Lee has to run to Brooklyn to go to couples therapy with her husband (they are doing great, they just go for maintenance), then pick up Apollo and Raphael (‘my children for better or for worse are undeniably 98% of my existence right now’).”
