There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In 'Great Outfits in Fashion History,' Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.

At the beginning of Kristen Stewart's "Twilight" era, the actor's style would best be described as carefree and relaxed. She'd be caught most days — whether running errands or attending a red carpet — wearing jeans and a solid white tee. Nowadays, Stewart's a Chanel ambassador and best-dressed-list veteran. But when did she pivot from girl-next-door to high-fashion maven? Seemingly, at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

With nominations for Best Kiss with Robert Pattinson and Best Female Performance in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Stewart went full rockstar chic in a Balmain leather mini dress.

The red look was covered in safety pins and rhinestones, leaving no space blank. It seems to have been an extension of the label's Spring 2011 collection — one of the last ones before Olivier Rousteing became creative director — featuring the same edgy embellishments throughout each garment. Stewart paired it with classic black leather stilettos. In terms of jewelry, she wore rings on her right hand only, letting the hardware on the dress take most of the spotlight.

To emulate the effortlessly chic rockstar aesthetic that has become synonymous with Stewart over the years, scroll through for our favorites.
